Tracing your roots is fascinating, sometimes tricky but very rewarding. The Coastal Georgia Genealogical Society (CGGS) makes it easier and more fun! If you are just beginning or an advanced researcher, you’ll learn a lot and enjoy spending time with a group of people who share your passion for family history.

Coastal Georgia includes Bryan, McIntosh, Liberty, Glynn, and Camden counties.  We meet on St. Simon’s Island. You need not have ancestors from this area to join, just an interest in genealogy, and a thirst for knowledge.  We are dedicated to promoting and encouraging an active interest in the science of genealogy and biographical history.

We meet every other month, beginning January through November (no July) with various additional programs throughout the year. We meet in St. Simons Island Casino Room 108 (around the corner from the St. Simons Island Library at the Pier Village). Meetings start at 2:00pm and run till about 4:00pm.

Our email newsletters provide you with upcoming events, researching tips, tools, local history and more. You will be signed up for the newsletter when your membership is activated. (Membership is $10 for the calendar year.) We also have a Facebook page and group.
